the first drop
Who calls their first blog "the first drop."
Obviously, I couldn't think of a more basic, noncreative title on this planet. But for the sake of my first attempt continue reading to understand.
For ones wondering what "drop" even means, no it's not a reference to a clothing drop but instead the drop of content. I considered using "dump" but seriously who wants to even say the word dump. I know everyone uses "photo dump" trying to make Instagram casual again but the dump is out of style. So from now on, I call my blogs, drops. And to start out with the first drop, taking great consideration of the name, I will explain and inform you what it means to be first.
A weird topic I know, but being first, in many minds is different. When you hear the word "first" what's one thing that comes to mind. Do you think of winning, do you think of something at the top of the list or something to do first. Solely, the definition of first is "being before all others or anything else in time" (https://www.dictionary.com/). Just like this drop being before the ones to come (see not as lame as you thought). Anyway, to me being first is being the best, that's what I grew up learning. "If you aren't first your last" we've all heard it. But is that true? People get so caught up in the idea of wanting to be better or first they forget what they truly desire.
For example, as a kid, I grew up Irish dancing. Most people have never heard of this activity but it's more intense than people think, so stay with me. I was coached if I didn't receive a first-place metal dancing at a competition I did not succeed. This seems crazy but subconsciously we would all answer the same way. When I would look around to see competition on the dance floor the competitors who I knew were by far the greatest, showed a face of distraught and stress. The worrisome of not being the first wore them down they couldn't even shed a smile.
