The book drop

The other night I finished this book that left me speechless.

I mean sobbing with tears all over my face, speechless.

Now I'm not sure why I had this enriched feeling after I read the book but after I turned the last page I was heartbroken. It could just be the way I read books because I swear every time I read a book these days I'm in my own world for weeks. Maybe it's the fact that I'm a hopeless romantic looking for love or these books actually change my perspective on life.

I must admit if the book doesn't catch my attention in the first couple of chapters it's being thrown off the bed. If I can't get into the book, it's most likely game over. I know I should maybe give some books a second chance but when I read, I want to be thrilled, not being able to put the book down, thrilled.

I've read a few books in my lifetime everything from Harry Potter to the next big hit on TikTok, but there are some worth remembering. For example, the book I finished last night, "The Light We Lost." This book may be a bit of a romance novel but the reason for my emotions at the end of the book was from the realistic depiction of life. Now don't run away when I say heartbroken, I almost mean it in a good way. It's the feeling when you learn something so surreal your emotions take over. You don't learn this stuff in a classroom, I can tell you that much.

That probably made no sense, but like I said some books I've read have stuck with me for years because of the way they made me feel. Hopeless romantic or not my book drop has genre across streams. It's hard to suggest a book to someone who will read it from a whole different perspective, but it's worth a shot. Everyone has a different way of reading, which is a good thing. Just like how I felt reading my last book at three a.m. I hope you feel a similar way if you give these books a chance.

Here's my current book drop:
  • "The Light We Lost" by Jill Santopolo
  • "It Ends With Us" by Colleen Hoover
  • "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart
  • "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson
  • "The Invisible Life of Addie Larue" by V.E. Schwab

  1. Alaina, I envy how much you love to read! I have always wanted to be a book girl but my attention span is so short that I can never finish a book. If I were to read a book I think I would be most interested in romance novels like this book so maybe I’ll give it a try! :)
