the cheese drop
For all who are lactose intolerant, I am deeply sorry for this post.
This post will be strictly directed towards cheese, so if you are sensitive to dairy products this post may be a bit boring. But I suggest still reading in case you want to take a skip day from your dairy-free lifestyle.
Cheese is elite. We've all heard it, "you will never be as famous as cheese". But have you really ever thought about that statement because it's completely true.
Oops, I forgot to tell the vegans out there, I also apologize for this post about dairy, it may be hard to hear. Trust me I understand, I was once a vegan in my younger years.
Back to the main topic, cheese. Cheese can be done well or it can be crafted into a fake powder used by the less knowledgable. I have to admit I have demolished a box of Kraft mac-n-cheese before but there is more to life through cheese than just a box. Cheese can be expressed through about any dish, everything from a savory pizza to a sweet crepe. This product of dairy has the ability to change the way food is eaten across the world.
For me, I love pizza with a cheese pull. But honestly, a cooked meal with cheese is hard to disappoint me.
The whole reason cheese was even in the topic for this week's blog is because my roommate and I created the best-grilled cheese on this planet. Let's be real, we all love grilled cheese but the key to the best cheese sandwich is the type of cheese. I've said this before but I am not a picky eater so I decided to take some risks on this sandwich. There are multiple kinds of cheese involved in this sandwich so get your cookbook ready to write them down.
First, get your pan hot on the stove and butter one side of each piece of bread. Next spread Mascarpone cheese spread on one slice of bread while placing slices of Mozzarella, Havarti and Fontina cheese on the other piece. These slices don't have to be massive but there should just be enough cheese for your pleasing. Place both slices of bread on the pan butter side down. When the cheese begins to melt, which takes about 3 minutes, place one slice on top of the other to make the sandwich. Let the cheese melt for another minute and your perfect grilled cheese is ready to eat. Be prepared for the best cheese pull of your life!
Alaina, I read this because I love cheese and milk. I need to stop eating so much cheese and drinking so much milk, but it is so good. I always love grilled cheese and want to change it up, so I may try this someday!
ReplyDeleteAlaina, I am a huge cheese guy. Just reading the blog made me want to try that grilled cheese sandwich. That sandwich indeed looks immaculate. I may need to try that one day. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThat pizza looks insanely good. I am so jealous of all the meals you’ve made this year, and I cannot wait to get into an apartment so I can start cooking! I have been spending all of my dining dollars on the grilled cheese at Starbucks…I’m not sure if it’s actually that good, or if it’s just better than Mac.
ReplyDeleteCheese is very good. I’ve never put much thought into the cheeses I eat though. I usually go to the store and buy the cheese with the most interesting name, most interesting color or funniest name. That grilled cheese definitely looks good! I’ll have to try making it myself some time.
ReplyDeleteAlaina, my mouth in literally watering from how good these meals look! I am for sure a cheese girl so I will definitely be trying to make these!
ReplyDeleteHey Alaina! I totally agree with you cheese is elite! There is sometimes a stigma around enjoying cheese and dairy, but I'll never quit. I'll also be sure to give this grilled cheese sandwich a try! (Probably with Annaleia).
