the matcha drop

What in the world is matcha?

Honestly, I thought much of the human race would have known, but I guess not.

If you know what matcha is, yay! For the ones who have no clue, you need to. First, let me explain what matcha is. It is a green tea structure but instead of a teabag, it consists of ground-up tea shaped into a powdered green substance. Hang with me it's not as bad as it sounds. This green powder is then mixed with water (hot or cold) then mixed with any milk your heart desires.

Here is why everyone on this planet should know about it. Coffee is a BIG deal, I know, so let's make matcha an even bigger one.  I mean on a real note everyone knows what coffee is but matcha is putting its foot through the door. Coffee is known for its strong taste along with its caffeine super urge. Now matcha may not have the best reputation for taste but just like coffee, you can add milk and sugar to spice up the flavors.

Though matcha has a unique taste, the benefits for this tea are off the charts and are the deal-breaker for wanting to try the immaculate drink. First, this drink provides long-lasting energy. Instead of drinking coffee, being buzzed for part of the day, shaking of caffeine, then dropping dead from the high, matcha gives a slight energy boost that is noticeable throughout the whole day. From personal experience, I can drink matcha in the morning and last till night without catching myself on the couch passed out by 6 p.m. Matcha also provides health benefits for a little side boost. These benefits may improve brain function, promote weight loss, lower the risk of cancer, reduce bad breath, prevent type two diabetes, and protect the liver (Healthline).

Anyway, take into consideration trying matcha. For me, there are so many ways to create fun, tasty matcha recipes which I will provide below. These did come from yours truly but trust me I've tried all of them and these are by far the best. I should become a barista for matcha but that can come another time.

It's time to jump on the matcha trend and here are some recipes to get you started! Hope you try some and let me know what you think!

  1. Hi Alaina! That Matcha Lemonade recipe sounds great - I'll have to look into that! I have never been a coffee drinker OR a tea drinker. I don't like the taste of black coffee or tea without anything added to them. I am allergic to milk and using dairy-free milk for anything other than cereal has never really excited me. So, I've never really considered myself a "beverage" person - I'm much more of a foodie! However, I do enjoy a cup of hot green tea when I am feeling under the weather, so maybe matcha is the next step in turning me into more of a "drink" person? Thanks for sharing!

  2. Hi Alaina! I unfortunately do not like matcha but I still found joy in reading your blog. However, I am willing to try the matcha lemonade just because lemonade is one of my favorite drinks. Part of me feel like it'll taste like dirt or grass with lemon to be honest. I'm a sucker for a drink that makes me more energized so I will for sure have to try something.

    1. It's funny you say it tastes like dirt, that's what all my friends say too! I can agree a little but if you add some sweetener and lemonade it will do the trick!

  3. Yes!! I recently have found out that I have a taste for matcha, I used to dislike the earthy tea flavor but for some reason I love it now, maybe my taste buds evolved. My go-to order from Starbucks now is an iced matcha latte, made with oat milk and a pump of cinnamon dulce and it is heaven.
