the vintage drop

Vintage shopping has been around for years, but thrifting for clothes is going insane right now.

And I am here for it!

The other day my roommate and I had to go shopping, one because I needed business clothes and two because I needed clothes in general. As a college student, I have no spending money, like zero, which is sad. So, I convinced my roommate to go shopping at goodwill.

I love second-hand shopping but I'm not great at it. I can usually find things but it's the part whether or not I am going to wear them when I get home. I always get these ideas in my head about what pieces I can wear with what but half the time I fail at the final product.

Also, I've done my research on fast fashion and how our environment has been destroyed by all these unsustainable, cheap clothing companies. So, I try to stay away. This is why vintage shopping is perfect.

Anyway, I've gone to goodwill in my hometown but never in Lima, so I considered myself taking a risk. I was a bit nervous I would have to pay hundreds of dollars on new clothes at the mall, but I was lucky enough to find some unique trendy clothing pieces at goodwill. I know it might sound crazy but some of these pieces are not as bad as they look.

I would say my style may be a bit odd sometimes, but I have a vision and I'm excited about the pieces I found.

These boots were five dollars and they are astonishing.

This little set is for business. Yes, it may look very old, but it works!

These shirts and pants can make the perfect dress up or down look.

These may not be your style, but I hope I inspired you to maybe shop secondhand before you buy off a random cheap website. Today, our environment needs your help more than ever and you never know what you might find at a vintage shop. It's an adventure every time :)

  1. I love those boots! They're a perfect fall shoe; and that tan blazer looks absolutely stunning. Everything you bought looks to be in great condition. You and I both know that finding clothes in style that are affordable can sometimes be hard especially being a college student. I'm glad you managed to find things that would work for you and even at a great price!

  2. Hi Alaina! I absolutely love thrifting and I love that it is being normalized. I am not sure if anyone else experienced this, but when I was younger thrifting was very taboo and almost looked down upon in a way, this was terrible especially since as a kid, my spending money was very limited. However, now I love thrifting and I am not afraid to tell anybody.

  3. Alaina, I enjoyed this blog, especially because I am huge about fashion including shoes! It is cool to see some of the things that are out on the market and I am glad you like to explore them. I enjoy shopping and thrifting with my mom also. I love buying new clothes and shoes but my wallet does not like it as much as me.

  4. Hi Alaina! I love thrifting too, but I am just like you where I buy things that I think are cool pieces, but never end up being able to figure out how to piece them together in my closet. Ada’s thrift store is super cheap, and I always find old ONU gear there for only $1!! The ladies that work in there are the sweetest, and I always enjoy searching around even if I’m not finding anything. Also…I’m in love with those boots.
