Lonely Roommates Podcast
The Lonely Roommates Podcast presents: Social Media With Kennedy Nutrition
Kennedy is a friend of mine, in fact, she's my roommate's sister. She's a nutritional influencer on Instagram who posts blogs about daily eating habits, healthy recipes and talks about the struggles of eating disorders. She's a runner who recovered from an eating disorder and influences younger runners with similar backgrounds. By promoting impactful living styles for those recovering from eating disorders and creating new recipes for viewers, Kennedy has made a platform for herself.
During the podcast with Kennedy, we talked about how she uses social media to her advantage and what problems have developed in the media. She started off by using her Instagram account as a way to recover from her eating disorder. She posted what she ate daily so that her followers would be influenced but also so she recognized that she was also taking care of her own body. Eventually, she noticed her platform growing and realized many people were struggling as well. Kennedy took off on social media and started working with nutritional brands to promote products to her viewers. She quickly realized it's hard to promote a brand you might not necessarily agree with. These brands will offer money which is hard to say no to.
We talked about the problem that many influencers promote brands that are harmful just because selfishly they want the money. It's hard to trust the media and even through social media class, we learned a lot about how marketing has become a huge factor in influencers. People can be paid a lot to just promote one product and many people will buy just because their favorite influencer is promoting the item. Kennedy mentioned turning down many marketing campaigns just because she didn't want to portray an image to her viewers that were negative to her personal brand.
Talking with Kennedy was a pleasure and I hope you check out the podcast we put together. Kennedy is not only an outstanding influencer but I could talk to that girl about nutrition for hours. She's a lovely girl and I know in the future she is going to influence hundreds of young girls like herself.
So, go check out the podcast and let me know what you think :)
Hey I really enjoyed this blog! I love following nutrition influencers that actually promote healthy living and taking care of our bodies rather than the gimmicks of the flat tummy teas and all that. I will be sure to check Kennedy out!
ReplyDeleteIt’s refreshing to see a platform pushing healthy food habits, and not working with brands they don’t believe in. I think it’s nice to see the core of her platform come from such a personal place, especially after she recovered from an ED.
ReplyDeleteAlaina, I thought it was very cool the topic that you chose to talk about and how you talked to a professional in the field about it. It is interesting to see how personal this stuff can become and how social media helped her. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteAlaina, I think it is so cool that your friend came out on social media to talk about her struggles. I love watching influencers who have an amazing story and is trying to help people. I think social media also gets caught up on the business part of influencers and thats terrible.
ReplyDeleteAlaina, its amazons to see people using social media to discuss their troubles in life. It's a powerful tool so it is always good to read the positives. With today's society being all about influencers and brand being cancelled, it's refreshing to hear someone be positive and boost their brands for what they believe in.
