Personal blogs vs business blogs
Are personal blogs easier than business blogs?
It's hard to say from someone who has never blogged for a company's brand, but by reading Chapter 12, my insight on this question expanded.
I've been curious about this question ever since I realized brands have blogs. You may think I'm crazy for thinking there are only personal blogs but that's what I grew up with. I was part of the generation where we watched vlogs and knew about blogs but rarely read them. I wasn't quite the generation that blogged yet but vlogging was ideal and blogging was for the moms. It never came to mind that blogs are associated with brands until I started to see an icon for blogs on websites.
I have a passion for online shopping and when scrolling through brands I noticed a clickable button for blogs. I mean I would rarely click the link but if I had I definitely would have grasped the idea of branding with blogs better.
It's fascinating that more than 50% of marketers say blogs have a high priority through their brand. That being said it's hard to receive recognition through blogs because it takes a while for consumers to become intrigued by the written blog. When writing for a business the blog must use a certain tone of voice for the company. For example, a blog for Disney would be livelier and family-friendly than a blog for a more sophisticated brand like Versace. Becoming a blogger for a business is hard. You must follow the words of guidelines the brands use so the blogs don't lose track of the image they want to portray to the public.
On the other hand, a personal blog may be a bit easier. From personal experience writing about yourself is easier than writing a research paper. You can pick the type of language you use in your personal blog and personal experience can enhance the quality of the writing. However, some people are made to write about others while some are naturally better at writing about personal experiences.
So, are personal blogs easier than business blogs?
I would have to admit it depends on the person. Some are better at writing for another brand while others lack the skill of staying consistent. Both blogs have advantages and disadvantages but if you do want to become a business blogger remember to stay true to the brand while staying personable to the consumers.
