the avocado toast drop

Avocado toast, if you haven't tried it yet don't knock it.

Let me tell you why.

(And I promise I will drop the recipes at the end)

Last week I made my roommate avocado toast for dinner, and I agreed with her, the world should know this recipe. I am a foodie, so I'm a bit bias but I also have some history with cooking so you can trust me on this one.

Growing up with a mom who cooked every night, I witnessed miracles. At a young age, I was fascinated by the way separate foods can become a meal. I just couldn't grasp the concept; I was either just dumb or my mom was a chief. Either way, I was interested to cook like my mother. Even though she never taught me, cooking with her was enough for me to learn.

And I fell in love with it.

One advantage for me is that I live to try new foods. I know some people struggle to broaden the spectrum on food but some of these avocado recipes may help.

I've made more than a handful of avocado toasts in my past but this one is by far the simplest with a unique twist. First, manage to get your hands on some sourdough bread or any bread you desire. Second find a ripe avocado, split, peel, and slice the avocado to place on the bread. Third, use a fork to spread and smash the avocado to fill the piece of bread. Fourth comes to the seasoning. Add the desired amount of sea salt, pepper, and add red pepper flakes. Drizzle a pinch of olive oil, and to finish your work drizzle honey to even out the crushed pepper flakes!

Another option, a little more complicated approach, is the masterpiece I developed for my roommate. Bread of your choice, I used ciabatta, should be toasted. Then spread pesto to cover the bread, add 3 slices of tomatoes, cut, peel, and slice the avocado like in the picture. Finish by adding some parmesan, salt, crushed chili flakes, and either a drizzle of olive oil or balsamic glaze.

Finally, for the basics out there, not shaming because trust me the recipe is still fabulous. Just add some avocado to some toast, spread it around, and add everything bagel seasoning (or salt and pepper). You can even add an egg if you feel adventurous.

If avocado toast just isn't your thing, I would be happy to help with other meal ideas! But if you are feeling up to the challenge let me know if any of these avocado toast recipes pleased your taste buds!

  1. Hi Alaina! I was someone who always said that I didn't like avocados but honestly, I just never tried them. The first time I had an avocado, I felt that I have missed so much, they are so good. One of my favorite things to make is avocado toast because it is so simple to make and tastes so good. I will have to try this recipe out!

  2. Hey Alaina! These options look amazing! I am a very picky eater and do not like avocados, but my roommate loves them. I will definitely pass on these recipes for her! It's awesome that you were self taught to cook just by watching your mom. I would always watch my mom bake and sometimes she even let me help and that is how I started to get a little into baking. I can only make one cookie from scratch, the rest is straight from a box, but that's okay for now.

I see a ton of people make avocado toast all the time too. I loved reading this blog because not only did you talk about the avocado toast, but you also explained all the directions and recipe very well too!

  4. Alaina, I like avacados in guacamole because of the mixture of everything, but I've never tried avacado toast. After reading your recipes and seeing the pictures, I definitely need to try to make it! I love cooking as well and it can be really fun to cook for other people and seeing how much they like your food.
