Has TikTok Peaked?
Will TikTok be canceled like Vine and Musical.ly was?
Videos are a popular trend on the internet and I believe TikTok brought the short clip videos to popularity. It may have been because of the pandemic or the rise of social media users but this platform made the rest of the internet jealous. Every major social media platform created its own version of TikTok videos that are available for its personal app. Many platforms allow videos and pictures but most are advertising their video ability because of the trend.
That is why I believe TikTok was the creation of the short video trend even though Vine and Musical.ly existed before.
We read in Chapter 11, that TikTok figured out how to catch an audience's attention quickly and effectively. By creating engaging videos and knowing that you must highlight the key message in the first three seconds, advanced TikTok to the top five social media platforms. When getting straight to the point while being able to apply entertainment through storytelling and dances this app found its audience.
This platform is useful from many angles including businesses. When TikTok exploded on the internet businesses took a shot at using the platform for their brands and it worked. Having a platform that the majority of media users are regularly on will have a major impact on a brand. People will see the message and if they are entertained for at least three seconds you did something right. Businesses caught on quickly to the trend, some managed to become overwhelmed with positive feedback but some just were not meant to be on the platform.
Even though TikTok has been made effective through business the videos for entertainment came first. This app was able to attract an audience that became addicted faster than any other platform on the internet. But the real question is, how long will TikTok peak for?
The trend of short videos will eventually lose its power. From the looks of it on the internet right now it won't be happening soon. However, if TikTok was created then anyone can develop another trendy app that kicks this platform off its power streak.
Alaina, I am glad you talked about this because I have been saying the same thing for awhile. I believe TikTok has peaked and it will have a downfall sooner rather than later, just like Vine did. I love TikTok but I think it is just the reality behind it.
ReplyDeleteAlaina, I liked how you mentioned how if a video gains your attention for three seconds or more than that is a win for the person making the video. It is extremely important when making a video to make sure it catches the audiences eye and helps them stay engaged. Keep up the good work!
