Parisian Fashion
When I think of Paris, I think of fashion. It might just be because that's the industry I want to pursue, but my whole life, I grew up thinking fashion was in Paris.
I remember my first time in Paris, I was with my parents, and I had a different outfit for every tourist site we visited. I only had two days in Paris and I knew I had to look fabulous. My entire life, I dreamed of going to Paris and my 14-year-old self knew where we were going and what to wear. My mom would literally bring my extra outfits in her purse and would help me change in alleyways. I had to make the most of my time in Paris.
Little did I know I would be living there six years later. I wore my best outfits in the city daily; I didn't need to worry about outfit changes in alleyways. From blazers to skirts, mine and everyone else's outfits in Paris were a Parisian dream. The simple but chic looks covered the streets; it felt like a movie. Not one person failed to look put together. The fashion was simple but luxurious. Parisians do fashion the right way. They buy expensive, long-lasting basics to go with everything. It's normal to wear the same pieces in the same week. For Americans, that may be weird, but that is also why fast fashion has boomed. Parisians are most likely to buy sustainable and luxurious items that last a lifetime instead of buying 100 different pieces that can only be worn once.
The Parisian Style is timeless and will forever represent a culture. A culture of fashion. One does not leave the house without wearing, not a statement but a chic, collected outfit. Everyone keeps to themselves but looks as if they are the main character. To dress like a Parisian, there are certain basics one should have in the closet. Here's a list of must basics.
- Leather jacket
- Blazer
- White blouse
- Skinny jeans
- Boyfriend jeans
- White T-shirt
- Long dress/ skirt
- Sneakers
From there, you are set with the basics. However, true Parisians buy from local brands because of the high-end quality. Nevertheless, the most known brands in Paris are everywhere: Channel, Ganni, Fendi, Off-White, Louis Vuitton, Cardier and Dior. The best fashion houses are located all over the city; it's almost impossible not to buy from them.
Shopping in Paris is more about the experience than the money. Every shop wants you to have a welcoming time, talking to you, offering you something to drink and trying to figure out your own personal style. Fashion is part of the city and it's more about how you look than what you do.
If you ever find yourself going to Paris, I would be more than happy to help you with the wardrobe :)
